Clearances

The purchaser of New Jersey business assets, other than in the ordinary course of business, must notify the Division of Taxation on Form C-9600 at least 10 business days before the closing; real property used for business or income purposes is covered too. If the purchaser does not, or closes before the 10 business days without an escrow assigned, the purchaser is held responsible for the seller's State tax obligations.
