About

About Saltaire Partners

Saltaire Partners is a fee-for-service M&A advisory firm in the New York metropolitan area. We work with owner-operated businesses worth roughly $3–100M, on both sides of a sale. The work is sold as modules: one piece at a time, at a fixed fee agreed in writing. There are no exclusive engagements and no success fees.

Who you'd be working with

A fixed point. You steer.

We built Saltaire around fixed-fee modules because we watched owners get bundled into engagements they didn't need — a year-long exclusive and a percentage of the sale, just to get a second opinion. You should be able to buy the piece you need and keep the wheel.

Mike Merseburg, Founder, Saltaire Partners

Mike Merseburg

Founder

West Point. Six years active duty as an Army officer. Engineer by training, operator by trade.

Mike has spent nine years in the lower middle market and has been involved in hundreds of deals. He has also seen dozens of deals die, and he knows how and why they die. Businesses worth $5–60M in enterprise value are his strike zone.

Before Saltaire, Mike grew Wild Bill's Craft Beverage Co. from a regional, event-based business into a national, omnichannel beverage brand. Before that he was an operating partner at Land & Sea Capital, a small family office, where he worked with its portfolio companies on growth initiatives and on building their leadership teams. Earlier, he was an engagement manager in McKinsey & Company's operations practice, where he led transformation and turnaround engagements.

Mike began his career in the U.S. Army, leading soldiers in Germany and Afghanistan as a captain. He earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2008.

The name

Why a lighthouse

Saltaire is a village on Fire Island, a few miles from the Fire Island Lighthouse. The bands in the mark are the lighthouse's daymark.

A lighthouse doesn't pilot your ship. It doesn't take the wheel, and it doesn't take a share of the cargo. It's a fixed reference point, and the captain steers.

That's the arrangement here. We tell you what we see: what the business is worth, what an offer really says, who the buyers are. You decide what to do about it, and whether to buy the next piece of work.
